Amara Evering’s work is rooted in her identity as a D.C. native and her Jamaican and Gullah lineage. She prioritizes activism, faith, and untold histories in her writing. She holds a degree in Creative Writing and Sociology from Emory University. Her poetry and prose have been published in The Contemporary, Conceit Magazine, and the Survivor Anthology. She served as a lead journalist and host on WPFW FM’s acclaimed morning show, Monday Morning QB. She wrote over 100 scripts for radio. In 2021, she was awarded the Alice Rowan Swanson Fellowship to write and produce the original radio series “For Ama”. In Washington D.C, she started a writer’s workshop for Black women.

Currently, she is a Creative Writing Instructor.
